Texas Pre-Academy teams play well at Disney’s Junior Soccer Showcase
Nov. 30, 2011-- Five Texas Pre-Academy League (TEPAL) teams participated in Disney’s Junior Soccer Showcase this past weekend including teams from Solar, Houston Texans SC, Lonestar SC and Dallas Texans.
Houston Texans SC 98 Pre-Academy team came away from the weekend with a strong finish in the Boys U-14 Predator bracket. They finished regular schedule play with two wins and one tie and advanced on to the semi-finals where they defeated the Brandon FC Flames 97 Blue 1-0. The Texans then faced a strong Chicago Fire Academy team in the finals, who had beaten the Dallas Texans U-13 Pre-Academy team on Saturday. Chicago Fire Academy proved to be a challenge for the Texas Pre-Academy teams as they knocked off their second TEPAL team of the weekend with a 2-0 win in the finals. Houston Texans SC U-13 are currently in sixth place in the U-13 group of the TEPAL.
The Dallas Texans U-13 Pre-Academy team came away from the weekend with a 2-1 record defeating AFC Lightning 98 Elite from Georgia, FC America 97/98 Premier from Florida and then dropping their final game to the Chicago Fire Academy from Illinois, who went on to be Champions of the Boys U-14 Predator bracket. Dallas Texans U-13 is currently in second place in the U-13 group of the TEPAL.
Solar sent both their U-13 and U-14 Pre-Academy teams to Florida over the Thanksgiving holiday. The U-14’s finished with a 2-1 record in the Showcase bracket dropping one game to the eventual first-place finisher in their bracket, the Coral Gables Toros. The U-13’s also finished 2-1 while competing in the U-14 Predator bracket. They lost their first and only game of the weekend to the Clearwater 97/98 Chargers Pre-Academy team from Florida. Solar U-13 is currently in first place in the U-13 group of the TEPAL, while Solar U-14 is in second place in the U-14 group.
Lonestar SC sent their 99/98B Pre-USSF team to compete in the Boys U-14 Predator bracket. They finished 1-2 and had a decisive win over United FC 98 International, defeating them 4-1. Lonestar SC 99/98 is currently in third place in the U-13 age group of the TEPAL.
TEPAL teams will be back in action December 10 as Classics Elite U-15 takes on Houston Dynamo U-15, and Solar plays Lonestar SC in the U-13, U-14 and U-15 age groups.
